Let’s Talk Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the body and has many roles. When used as a dermal filler it can give the appearance of lifting when placed in certain areas of the face, can contour, and provide volume as we often see in the lips. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, like the RHA and Juvaderm collections, are great options when thinking about getting filler. 

Hyaluronic acid fillers can last anywhere from 6-18 months depending on the product used and where it is placed. The benefits of hyaluronic acid fillers include instant results, hydration, short recovery time, minimally invasive, and it is a quick procedure done in the office. Serious complications are rare and are usually temporary. Hyaluronic acid fillers also have a reversal agent that can be used for undesirable results or with vascular occlusion.  

When looking at the youthful face there is an area like an upside-down triangle. As we age our faces begin to drop due to many factors like a decrease in collagen, fat, and bone loss. Cheeks can do so much for the face and should be considered before filling any other area. The structures of the face (aka the boney areas like the cheeks, chin, and jaw) are very important to consider so that the midface (especially the lips) does not look heavy, pull down, or droop. The cheeks are my favorite because they improve multiple areas of the face. They can help with the under eyes, nasolabial folds, and jowls and improve the face’s profile.
